It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It's almost Christmas time and chill is definitely in the air! Tree is up and lit, decorations are out, presents are almost all the way bought, wrapped, and put under the tree, lights on the houses and tree's outside light up the dark nights, and christmas music is playing everywhere I go! The only thing left is some snow to cover up the ground and make this place look beautiful!

Love this time of year! I am so happy and excited to finally have my own place to call home and to decorate and to have someone special that I love to spend the holidays with!!

Nathan and I spent last night working on a christmas puzzle and making yummy peanut butter balls while watching some christmas movies! I love doing puzzles, especially during this time of year, and now especially with my husband! So glad I found someone who likes doing puzzles as much as I do! And he puts up with all my christmasness; listening to christmas music since beginning of November, watching christmas movies ALL the time, decorations everywhere, baking christmas treats, and going to Christmas shows with me!

It truly is such a wonderful time of year! The Christmas Spirit rings throughout the streets and through everyone! The other day I met my own "christmas angel"(if you will call it that). I was out shopping for christmas and was very determined to get everything done on my list and not let anything stop me. As I was leaving Walmart, rather hurriedly, there was an older man standing at the Salvation army stand, I walked right past him just trying to get to my car and on to my next destination as quickly as I could, when he stopped me and said hi to me. He had the sweetest, most genuine smile on his face, as he continued to talk to me and tell me to slow down and just enjoy this season! He told me how beautiful I was and asked if I was married, and when I replied that yes I was and have been for the last couple months, he was so happy for me and Nathan and just kept saying what a blessing we are for each other. Also how excited he was about what beautiful kids we will have in the future, and what a blessing they will be, and how that is what life is all about, family. He shared with me how him and his wife have been married for 54 years, and he couldn't be happier! I told him that I look forward to that many years with Nathan!

This older gentlemen reminded me how easily it is to get caught up in the present shopping and other things, and to forget to SLOW DOWN and to just enjoy the Christmas season and to remember the true meaning of Christmas. It was such a simple, yet beautiful conversation I had with this older man, an experience I will never forget! So remember to slow down, and to look around you and enjoy the season! Remember to have the Christmas Spirit with you always! Remember the beautiful Christmas story and the miraculous birth of our Savior; the true meaning of Christmas!!

How we met!!

Alright, I've decided to join pretty much everyone else and try this blogging thing. Not sure how good I will be, I really have no idea what i'm doing.. but hey, i'll give it a shot!

So as most of you probably know, Nathan and I just recently got married!! I thought i'd back track a little and tell you all how we met.

Nathan is a current student up at BYUI, majoring in Automotive Technology. Before he met me, he was mister busy man. He was always finding something to do whether it was drifting, fishing, long boarding, building cars or bikes or scooters, hanging out with people, serenading girls with his guitar, going around to girls apartments to find desserts or any food to eat, or anything recreational really....all in between the times he was working or going to class and doing homework.

I am a Dental Assistant at Randy Smith and Mark Marlowe Pediatric Dentistry, and have been there for 3 years. Before I met Nathan, I was very involved with my singles branch and the Idaho Falls Institute. I had events every night of the week! They kept me very busy! I had a couple girlfriends that I had met through the branch and different things and we did everything together! We even went on a trip to California this summer and had a blast!

So a couple of those girlfriends of mine would go up to BYUI and go country dancing every wednesday night. Every week they tried to get me to go, and I would kindly decline! haha! I love country dancing and all, just not a fan of two-step and thats what they do more of up there, instead of country swing. FINALLY one random wednesday in the beginning of May, they asked me if I wanted to go, and my first thought was, 'hmm yeah it might be fun, I think i'd like to go', then turned to, ' oh no, no i'll be fine not going'. Well my friend/roommate saw my weakness at the beginning and told me that i'm going and that I don't have a choice! So they dragged me up there. I first guy who asked me to dance was this little 18 year old freshman, and once he found out I was 23 he bolted out so fast! It was pretty hilarious! Then the next guy to ask me to dance was one of the instructor guys, we was pretty good at swinging, but super fast and tiring! So after that dance I ran straight to the drinking fountain, being very winded and parched. Then all of a sudden this guy (Nathan) behind me says "hey, I think I just danced with your friend Kirsten!"..... my first thought was 'how did you know she was my friend??' but I didn't say that, instead I said 'oh yeah she's my roommate'. Then we just got to talking and joking around with each other. It was a very fun and easy going conversation. I hadn't had one of those with a guy in a very long time! It was refreshing! So we kept talking through a whole song (it was a line dance, so we didn't want to go there ;)). Once the song ended he turned to me and asked me to dance! And the song just starting was one of my most favorite songs "Crazy Girl"! I was pretty excited to dance with this guy, who was so fun to talk to, and to one of my favorite songs! On our way out to the dance floor he asks me if I was excited, I yelled "HECK YEAH!!" =)

So we danced, talked and laughed, and had a great time, that when the song ended he asked if he could steal me for another dance, and of course I said Yes! (OH and good side note, he didn't two-step, he only country swings! very good thing!) We ended up dancing 3 dances in a row, then he let me go. With the last few songs to go before the night ended, HE FOUND ME! And asked me to dance again! I was so excited! I had been trying to find him for the last little while, but wasn't able to. We ended up dancing the last 3 songs together, having a great time! I had asked him what his story was towards the end of the last song, and he was starting to tell me, but my friends and I had to get going. So he smoothly asked for my number for reason of 'needing to finish his story!' I was very impressed! He texted me that night for a couple hours. Then the next day he called me while I was on my way to Institute. I had gone early to go play the chapel piano, but instead we ended up talking for about an hour, until I HAD to hang up because I had to go start institute. We went on a date that Sunday night, we went walking around the river in Idaho Falls. It took us 4 hours to get around the whole thing! We kept stopping and sitting on all the different benches they have around the whole river and just kept talking for hours! It was the best first date ever! I loved it! After that we pretty much saw each other or talked to each other every day! He made me so twitter-pated! I would get butterflies every time he called or texted, and especially when I was about to see him!!!

Nathan's side of the story at the dance: He says he had seen me from across the room and said,"yup i'm going to ask her to dance". So on his way over to me, I guess he was just a couple feet away, I got asked to dance by that instructor guy. My roommate Kirsten had been  standing right next to me, because were talking before, so he decided to go ask her to dance! So that is how he new we were friends! When he got in line at the drinking fountain he saw me and thought 'that's her! that's the girl I was going to ask to dance'.... So he sparked conversation! And the rest is history!! =)

Sorry that it is a pretty long post, but that is the story of how we met!!
